Eriona Xhaferaj: Self-love that Glows Your Inner Self

By Eriona Xhaferaj

I am Eriona Xhaferaj, and my expertise is in Skin Care. My background is in Pharmacy. Furthermore, I am an Organic Skincare Formulator for 6 years now, and recently a Holistic Nutritionist. Generally, when we talk about ways to glow the skin, first thing that may come to our mind is any cream with magic properties. However, I was lucky to touch everything related to skin care, from lab work to aesthetic processes, and lastly holistic approach.

Today, I want to share the secret that I consider primal in leading every person to having a healthy and glowing skin. It is the self-love, and I highlight it as the unconditional one.
Did you know that while you were only 5 days in your mum’s womb and not more that some millimetres in size, the nervous system and skin were attached to each other and coming from the exact same conformation? This process is called gastrulation and results in three layers. The ectoderm (outer layer) gives rise to both nervous and skin outer layer.

That said, it is very important to understand from a micro-scale how the skin and nervous system has the same origin in the earliest embryo development. From a macro perspective, the skin is the largest organ and a sensory one, hence tightly connected with nervous system. Can you imagine that every single stimulus goes through skin receptors and affects the skin? If you are releasing and taking positive vibes, your skin will glow, and if you are taking the negative ones, the skin will end up dull. Saying that, we cannot change the heat of the fire in order to save our skin from burning, but we can remove our hand from it. On the other side, we cannot put ourselves apart from burning negative thoughts, but definitely we have the power to change the way of thinking and mindset.

Understanding this essential concept automatically brings to life the importance of self-loving. Loving yourself, I don’t mean to dress up beautifully and go shopping and buy anything you want, and do whatever you want. These are stimuli coming from the outer environment, and will last only temporarily – as long as there is stimuli. Self-loving is that strong connection that you feel within yourself; that inner voice and mindset that is able to generate powerful energy, even via mere thoughts and charging you continuously from inside. I call this unconditional love. Such love makes you always available to do whatever your self needs.

In my training with Mirela Sula – Founder of Global Women – first thing that she told us was her secret mantra. “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy”. Every morning, she gets up, opens the window, looks to wonderful nature and says: “Oh my God, oh my God, thank you thank you so much for giving me another day”. She says her mantra and repeats it frequently during the day and at any time that she feels a negative thought. Being honest, firstly I didn’t agree. No one is perfect and whole. How could I say such a lie to myself?

Thinking deeper, and from a religious angle, I recognised that that mantra is amazing in its good understanding. Yes, we have been created whole, perfect in our creation, powerful with our mind and strength, capable to love, harmonious and obviously we have to be grateful and happy, whatever happens in our life. Hence, if we say it aloud, frequently and deeply feeling it, we are just putting some huge positive energy in our nervous system. Through this, negative thoughts are prevented, while the nervous system is spreading positive vibes to every single cell. This will significantly increase our self-esteem, our energy level and naturally even the skin will be glowing. It is interesting that from all the other organs, the skin is the one that immediately reflects this impact. Can’t we admit that skin is the mirror of our nervous system, our emotional state and mindset? I easily recognise in the mirror the shining of my skin when I am happy, and its dullness in sadness.

Considering the aforementioned impact that the mindset has not only on our skin, but across our body, automatically highlights the importance of learning how to love yourself unconditionally. It must never be considered as something hard. It’s you! If you get yourself under the control, nobody has the ability to enter into your body and lead you from inside. Achieving self-love is a tight combination between self-development, listening to your body and creating routines. In the long run, all this will make it easy to create balance between your inner self and the outside world, allowing you to feel forever young.
How can we love our self? Understanding this tiny but vital concept will increase everybody’s instinct to find a bunch of ways to achieve this kind of connection with their self.

One of the most recommended ways that a lot of successful people do is journaling. Can you wonder the main component in journaling? Starting to write for what you are grateful for. That’s amazing. While you start to count the main goodness that you have, you are generating inner positive energy. Just try it: get started, and you will notice results from the first day. “To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness” said Robert Morley. If you want your skin to glow, love yourself unconditionally and never give up to offer yourself whatever it needs to be healthy and happy from inside out.
