Mirela Sula Appointed as the First National Goodwill Ambassador for UN-IOM Albania
In a significant announcement, our CEO Mirela Sula has been named the first National Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Albania. This landmark appointment marks a new chapter not only for Sula but also for the advocacy and support of migrants in Albania and around the world.
Mirela Sula brings to this role a profound commitment and a personal understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with migration. With a history of overcoming adversity, Sula has transformed her experiences into a platform for empowerment, particularly for women, and now aims to extend her influence to support the broader migrant community in Albania.
“Here begins a new chapter for me. I’m excited that over the next two years, I’ll serve as the first National Goodwill Ambassador for IOM Albania. This role is more than just a title; it’s a profound commitment to a cause I deeply believe in,” Sula stated.
Having personally navigated the complexities of migration, Sula’s appointment as Goodwill Ambassador is emblematic of her journey from a migrant with little English, no financial support, and the responsibility of being a single mother, to a figure of inspiration and leadership. Her experiences have not only given her strength but have also fueled her passion to uplift others facing similar challenges.
Sula’s advocacy work aligns with IOM’s mission in Albania, which focuses on supporting individuals and communities affected by migration, as well as assisting the Government of Albania in ensuring good migration governance. “I’ve seen firsthand the incredible work that IOM is doing in Albania… I’m happy to join hands with them in creating a more supportive environment for migrants,” Sula added.
As the first National Goodwill Ambassador for IOM Albania, Mirela Sula is poised to be a powerful voice for migrants, advocating for their rights and opportunities. Her appointment is not just a personal achievement but symbolizes a celebration of resilience, hope, and the potential for transformative change.
“Join me on this wonderful journey!” Sula invites, as she embarks on this role with determination and optimism, committed to making a significant impact in the lives of migrants in Albania and beyond.
This appointment holds a special place in Sula’s heart, representing both a culmination of her personal journey and a commitment to contribute towards building a more inclusive, empowered, and understanding world for migrants.
The International Organization for Migration, and the community at large, welcomes Mirela Sula to her new role as National Goodwill Ambassador. Her dedication to the cause of migration and her readiness to support those in need promises to bring about positive changes and inspire many.

Notables such as Dimash Qudaibergen, the celebrated Kazakhstani singer, and Mouctar Diakhaby, the esteemed professional footballer from Guinea, have shared their enthusiasm and commitment to this important.
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration, advocating for humane and orderly migration to benefit both migrants and societies. The Goodwill Ambassador Programme is a cornerstone of IOM’s strategic vision to engage influential figures in spreading the message of respect, dignity, and opportunity for migrants globally.
