What inspired you to become a dentist, and how has your journey evolved over before your 25 years of experience in providing NHS care?
Was inspired by helping patients have healthy teeth, healthy gums, and confident smiles. By doing diverse things such as writing 3 books, presenting, writing, and delivering courses, and content creator.
Can you share a bit about your experience as a mentor and how it intersects with your role as a dentist?
I believe I am always mentoring others when I do a Radio Show to discuss important topics such as dental prevention is better than cure.
How did your experience during the COVID-19 pandemic shape your professional outlook and inspire you to create innovative solutions like your leadership skills course?
When COVID-19 arrived, my world was crushed and everything came to a standstill. I couldn’t work and lost sources of income. During lockdown, was allowed to create a course and deliver to colleagues as part of professional development. I believe leaders who led with compassion did well during the lockdown and that inspired my topic.
What motivated you to participate in the AI versus Corona Hackathon, and how did winning the first prize impact your perspective on integrating technology into dentistry?
During the Lockdown, the AI versus Corona Hackathon was advertised, and joined data scientists and our team won first prize. That has now increased my interest in using AI in dentistry.

Could you elaborate on the importance of preventing tooth decay and how your perspective on prevention aligns with your dedication to oral health promotion?
I always say dental prevention is better than cure, especially in children. It costs the health service about 42 Million pounds a year to put them to sleep to remove decayed teeth. This can be prevented by using the following tips.
I. BRUSH 2X A DAY WITH PREFERABLY FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE.
II. SPIT AFTER BRUSHING
III. LIMIT SWEETS TO MEAL TIMES
IV. DOWNLOAD THE FOOD SCANNER APP WHEREBY YOUR MOBILE PHONE BECOMES A BARCODE READER AND TELLS YOU HOW MANY CUBES OF SUGAR ARE IN THE FOOD
V. COOK FROM SCRATCH IF YOU CAN
VI.VISIT THE HYGIENIST AND DENTIST REGULARLY
VII. NURSING MOTHERS SHOULD PLEASE TAKE THE BREAST OUT OF THE CHILD’S MOUTH WHEN THEY FALL ASLEEP
VIII. AS SOON AS THE CHILD HAS THEIR FIRST SET OF TEETH, REGISTER THEM WITH A DENTIST. ERUPTION OF FIRST TEETH MAY VARY IN EACH CHILD. COULD BE ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD.
IX. READ THE BOOK I WROTE. TITLE- MUMMY WHAT IS TOOTH DECAY?-PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
Your poem “B.U.R.N.O.U.T” speaks to the resilience and unity of hardworking individuals. How do you apply these qualities in your dental practice, especially in times of challenge, or adversity?
In times of challenge, my acrostic poem empowers me to be the best I can be and make a difference which becomes a ripple effect to inspire the next generation.
