On the 17th June 2018 ‘Global Woman’ magazine launched a new ‘Global Woman Club’ in Johannesburg, South Africa. The inauguration of this new club provides a great opportunity for all African women to join together and use their inspiration, their talents and their vision to take positive action in order to improve their situations and take charge of their lives.
All the women taking part in the event were from different backgrounds and had different life-challenges. They were brought together in order to change their lives – and the world – through mutual collaboration, supporting each other and empowering each other through uniting their expertise and personal strengths. ‘Global Woman Club Johannesburg’ is the realization of a vision and mission that serves to bring together women from all different backgrounds to support each other regardless of their background, ethnicity, age or circumstances.

Sharing their unique stories and personal missions is a gift that everyone can learn from. By relating their life stories each speaker encouraged the other attendees to take a deeper look at their own lives and who they really are inside, inspiring them to rediscover their own individual inner beauty and strength.
This business-based event incorporated many messages that need to be heard around the globe by women everywhere. Messages that help to empower women financially and to give them the knowledge and the courage to build or grow their own businesses. The event was therefore designed to help business women and entrepreneurs to increase their visibility and grow their businesses by empowering them with confidence to recognise that they are worthy and valued.
Many women participated in this unique day of learning, sharing experiences and information, acquiring new contacts, networking with peers and learning from experts.
Rooksana Modan, the director of the ‘Global Woman Club’ in Johannesburg, spoke heartwarmingly about how this collaboration with Mirela Sula happened. Carolyne Opinde, Speaker and panelist at the event, expressed her enthusiasm about the launch of the Global Woman Club in Johannesburg providing a great network for women to support each other and work together. She is the founder of ‘The NGO Whisperer’, a global consulting business that helps non-profits raise money. Many other women also had the opportunity to take the stage and talk about themselves and their business.
Claudia Makwela, a passionate Mentor and Coach in youth development shared how she held a job for 24 years – yet felt very ‘stuck’. She emphasised the importance of teaching children about entrepreneurship and not leaving that part of children’s education to teachers alone – a prime example being her son, Ntando. who she helped to self-publish his first book.
This thread continued with Victorine Mbong Shu, author of several books, who discussed the importance of parents being involved in their children’s education. She even wrote a book about the subject called: “Stop complaining! And bring back involved parenting”.
Marnie Steyn spoke about how the world is increasingly giving away their food sources to large corporations. This, in turn, has led to an increase of diseases among both adults and children. That is why she founded ‘The Health Chef’ in order to source produce from easy, accessible sources – and not from large corporations. She handed free meal vouchers to all new members to try their food.
And there was some action too – from Lezelle Pretorius, who energised the audience by making them dance. She is a former schoolteacher who is now owner of the ‘Modern Jive Dance Club & DJ.’
A fantastic beginning for what promises to be an outstanding new Global Woman collaboration.
