This Girl Is on Fire: The Pyramid of Health for Every Stage of Life
By Jutta Wohlrab
Health doesn’t happen by accident. It’s something you create — step by step, choice by choice, every single day. As women, we juggle many roles: leader, entrepreneur, mother, partner, friend, visionary. The challenge is this: how do we keep our fire alive without burning out? For me, this question has been both professional and deeply personal. I’ve been a midwife for 43 years, supported more than 3,000 births, and coached over 10,000 women worldwide. I’m also an entrepreneur, a curious traveler, and a woman who has faced her own struggles with health. What I’ve learned is simple: everything in our body, mind, and soul is connected. That’s why I use a model I call the Pyramid of Health.
Level 1: The Body — Your Vehicle
Your body carries you through every stage of life. Like any vehicle, it needs proper care:
- Nutrition – the right fuel for your cells and hormones
- Supplements – not “more,” but the correct balance, based on testing
- Movement and Exercise – yoga, running, walking, dancing
- Sleep – when your body repairs itself
- Relaxation – daily pauses to breathe and reset
- Treatments – acupuncture, massage, osteopathy, physiotherapy
Ask yourself: Am I fueling my body the way I would fuel a high-performance car?
For 40 years, I suffered from migraines and tried everything: diets, osteopathy, acupuncture, meditation, medication. Nothing worked for long. Only recently did I discover the missing piece — correcting my Omega-6/Omega-3 balance reduced inflammation and finally freed me from migraines.
Tip: Don’t guess — test. Use reliable testing to understand your body’s needs and adjust accordingly.
Level 2: Emotions and Community — The Heart of Health
Health is not just physical; it’s emotional. And emotions are closely tied to community.
Who asks, “How are you?” Who celebrates your wins? Who listens when you struggle?
During the Covid pandemic, when connections were cut, loneliness soared — and so did depression. Community is not a luxury; it’s medicine. That’s why I love being part of Global Woman. It’s more than a network; it’s a movement where women share dreams, exchange ideas, and cheer each other on. You may walk into a room of strangers and leave with sisters.
Ask yourself: Do I have a circle that supports me? Do I give back the same energy I receive? Community strengthens the heart of the pyramid. Alone we survive — together we thrive.
Level 3: Mindset — The Driver
If the body is the vehicle, mindset is the driver. Even the best car won’t go far with a distracted driver.
Your mindset is shaped by the words you say to yourself when nobody else is listening. Do they fuel you or drain you?
Mindset exercise: The Perfect Day visualization
Imagine the most perfect day of your life, from morning to night. What do you eat, who do you meet, how do you feel? Write it down and visualize it daily. This exercise helps steer your thoughts and actions toward creating that reality.
Mindful awareness means paying attention to what you’re doing right now. Catching yourself drifting is proof you’re mindful because you noticed.
The “Dr. Feelgood” dialogue is a tool I use myself. Talking in the third person may sound unusual, but research shows it helps regulate emotions and improve decision-making.
Ask yourself: If my mindset is the driver, does she know where she’s going? Or is she asleep at the wheel?
Level 4: Spirit — The Cherry on Top
At the top of the pyramid is spirit — the element that gives meaning to everything else. Whether you call it God, the Universe, intuition, or purpose, it’s about connection beyond yourself.
Spirit gives meaning to struggles, gratitude for wins, and peace in daily life. It’s the flame that keeps your fire glowing.
The levels of the pyramid interact constantly. If your body is inflamed, your emotions suffer. If you feel isolated, your mindset collapses. If your mindset is negative, your sleep and health decline.
But the reverse is also true:
- Heal the body → the mind clears
- Build community → emotions strengthen
- Train mindset → goals come alive
- Connect with spirit → everything flows
This is how women stay “on fire” through every stage of life: adolescence, pregnancy, entrepreneurship, menopause, leadership.
Taking your life into your own hands means building your pyramid one level at a time. Nobody else can drive your vehicle but you.
How strong is your pyramid right now? Is your vehicle tuned? Is your driver awake? Do you feel supported by your community and connected to something bigger?
