Dr. Wyngaard, after over 27 years in dentistry, what inspired you to pivot into transformational coaching?
In 2018, while working on a cosmetic smile design, I realized that external changes alone often don’t create the deep inner transformation my patients sought. This sparked my curiosity about mindset and self-perception, leading me to my first personal development course. That journey transformed me, and I began exploring coaching methods that now empower other dentists and my patients to achieve personal and professional breakthroughs.
How did your challenges in dentistry shape the creation of your Dental Profit Continuum Blueprint?
Like many dentists, I excelled clinically but lacked formal business training, leading to burnout and frustration. This motivated me to create the Dental Profit Continuum Blueprint—a six-part system that integrates psychology, values, and patient-centred care to build a resilient practice. By diagnosing and fixing inefficiencies, dentists can serve with confidence and achieve sustainable, stress-free growth.
Your clients, especially female dentists, often face burnout. How does The Alchemy Academy support them?
As a former busy female dentist, I understand the unique challenges women face. The Alchemy Academy helps them manage energy, not just time. Using NLP, conscious coaching, and a focus on feminine energy, we teach them to prioritize self-care, identify burnout triggers, and reconnect with their ‘why,’ enabling them to lead with resilience.
How did observing patient anxiety deepen your interest in human behaviour and impact your work with dental teams?
Seeing so many patients relying on medication showed me the need for a holistic approach. By addressing mindsets, I help my team empathize with patients, reducing stress and fostering a compassionate environment that supports both patient and team growth.
Why do you advocate for digital and AI platforms in dentistry?
AI and digital tools let us work smarter, not harder. For example, AI-powered note-taking reduces medico-legal risks and streamlines documentation, allowing dentists to focus on patient care. Digital advancements also boost efficiency, sustainability, and patient complaints, helping practitioners maintain a work-life balance.
How do NLP and timeline therapy enable you to help clients transform?
These methods reveal where clients feel ‘stuck’ and empower them to make intentional choices aligned with their core values. By addressing both business and personal life holistically, clients find deeper fulfilment and move from reactive to intentional living.
You say a smile is memorable. How does this philosophy shape your approach to dentistry?
Smiles are powerful; they’re the universal language of warmth and connection. I focus on ‘smile psychology’—not just aesthetics but also mental and relational impacts. When patients feel supported, they radiate confidence, benefiting both mental health and social interactions.
Beyond aesthetics, how does “smile psychology” enhance well-being?
Stress often drives patients to seek cosmetic changes, but there’s usually an underlying emotional cause. I address ‘brain health’ alongside dental health, looking at nutrition and other factors affecting both. When patients feel seen and understood, they’re more open to positive changes that benefit their well-being.
You have hundreds of five-star reviews. What’s your secret to creating lasting patient loyalty?
It’s all about empathy. I live by Maya Angelou’s words, ‘People will forget what you did, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.’ Even in difficult moments, treating patients with care builds trust and loyalty, creating a practice that people remember and recommend.
As an industry leader, what’s your vision for the future of dentistry, especially for women?
I hope to inspire women to lead with empathy and resilience. By embracing both clinical and personal growth, female dentists can shape a new generation of healthcare that values mental well-being as much as technical skill. This is vital as healthcare shifts, with more dentists moving to private practice and burnout rates rising.
What’s your advice for female dentists balancing business with personal well-being?
Work on your business, not just in it. Make rest a priority, planning everything else around it. Invest in yourself first—this pays the best long-term dividends, helping you avoid burnout and rediscover joy in your work. Create a practice that serves you, not vice versa, so you can thrive personally and professionally.
