The Power of Tapamations: How Tapping Makes Affirmations Work
By Adel Houten
Most of us have tried affirmations at some point. Standing in front of the mirror, repeating lines like “I am confident” or “I am enough.” Sometimes it feels good in the moment, other times it feels hollow, like the words just bounce back without landing anywhere deep. That’s because affirmations on their own don’t always sink into the subconscious mind where real change happens.
What Makes Tapamations Different
This is where EFT tapping takes affirmations to another level. When we combine the repetition of affirmations with tapping on acupressure points, we’re not only saying the words, we’re rewiring the nervous system so those words feel true.
Tapamations – a blend of affirmation and tapping – help anchor positive beliefs into both body and mind. Science shows that the subconscious mind runs most of our daily patterns. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) calms the amygdala, reduces cortisol, and soothes the fight-or-flight response.
When you introduce an affirmation while tapping, the subconscious is far more likely to accept it. Instead of your inner critic saying, “No, you’re not,” the body relaxes, and the statement slips past resistance. Tapamations turn affirmations into lived experiences. There’s also an energetic element: energy flows where attention goes, and tapping amplifies that flow, aligning thought, body, and spirit.
How to Practise Tapamations
Here’s a simple way to get started:
- Choose Your Affirmation – Pick a short, present-tense statement that resonates with you, like “It’s safe to feel calm today” or “I am worthy of love and respect.”
- Set Your Intention – Take a breath and decide the energy you want to invite.
- Tap the Points – Using your fingertips, gently tap the EFT points: side of the hand, eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, under the arm, top of the head (5–7 taps each).
- Repeat Your Affirmation – Say it aloud at each point, keeping a steady rhythm.
- Add Breath and Visualisation – Between rounds, pause and breathe. Then picture yourself already living the statement, locking it into your nervous system.
Creating a Daily Ritual
Tapamations only take a few minutes but, practised daily, they help create new neural pathways and shift how you feel, think, and act. Over time, the affirmations stop being just words – they become your truth.
Healing isn’t about forcing yourself to think differently; it’s about soothing the body and gently teaching the subconscious that a new way is possible. That is the real power of Tapamations.
