How Bozena Zag Reclaimed Herself at 46 and Flourished at 48
From Poland to Windsor, Ontario, Bozena Zag’s journey is proof that reinvention has no age limit. At 46, she made the decision to start investing in herself internally, a choice that became the foundation for everything that followed. Two years later, at 48, she stepped onto the runway and transformed her passion into a powerful mission—helping women reclaim their identity, embrace self-worth, and live with fearless authenticity. Today, as a transformational mentor and creator of a course and masterclass for women over forty, Bozena shows by example that confidence, beauty, and success only grow stronger with experience.
What gave you the courage to start a new career at 48?

The courage came from a passion that had always been inside me. Living in a small town, I felt limited and unfulfilled, so I knew I had to look beyond my surroundings. Deep down, I’d carried this dream since I was a teenager. At 46, I began investing in myself internally, and by 48 I realized I couldn’t keep ignoring it—I needed to finally pursue what truly lit me up, rather than settle for something that didn’t inspire me.
How did moving to a new country change the way you see yourself and your future?
Moving from Poland to Canada as a young girl changed everything. My parents made that choice to give us a better life, and it shaped my outlook. At just seven years old, I dreamed of modeling but didn’t have the confidence or support to pursue it then. Instead, I focused on building a family, which was always my deepest desire. While modeling took a backseat, creating a stable, loving family gave me fulfillment and became the foundation for everything I built later.
What was the biggest lesson you learned about starting over?
That it’s never too late. I began modeling in my late 30s and 40s, with no qualifications and very little belief in myself, all while going through a separation. I learned that the “perfect time” doesn’t exist—you have to take the leap anyway. Starting over is really about believing in your vision and being willing to step into uncertainty, even when it feels scary.
Why do you believe it’s never too late to begin again?
Because we only get one life. Age shouldn’t stop anyone from chasing what they love. Yes, it’s hard—you’ll face failures, struggles, and doubts—but if you have passion and persistence, you’ll also create joy and fulfillment. Doing what excites you gives life energy and purpose, and that’s far more powerful than simply “playing it safe.”
What inspired you to create a course and masterclass for women over forty?
My mentor encouraged me. She told me my story could inspire other women to take action. At first, I was hesitant to share something so personal, but then I realized how many women feel stuck or afraid of starting over. By opening up, I can show them that it’s possible—and help them see that their dreams are still valid, no matter their age or circumstances.
What do you tell women who feel like they’ve lost their identity?
I remind them that their identity isn’t lost—it’s still there, just buried under fear, habits, or self-doubt. With a shift in mindset and self-talk, they can reconnect with who they really are. Once they see their own value and strength again, confidence and new opportunities naturally follow. I know this because I’ve been there myself.
How do you balance family, career, and personal growth?
For me, it’s all about planning and priorities. I wake up early to focus on my work and personal growth, and I make sure there’s always space for family communication and connection. Even when my kids were little—and now as adults—family time has remained non-negotiable. Balancing everything isn’t always easy, but when you stay organized and committed, it feels deeply rewarding.
What did stepping onto the runway mean to you personally?
It was a dream come true. Walking the runway, being in front of the camera, and feeling the energy of the audience—it’s magical. Of course, it takes confidence and practice, but for me, it’s pure joy. Fashion has always been my passion, and stepping onto that stage felt like owning who I really am.
How has fashion helped you express your inner confidence and power?
Fashion pushed me outside my comfort zone. Being on stage in front of people was nerve-racking at first, but it gave me courage. Once I overcame that fear, I realized I could take on anything. That confidence carried into every part of my life—from family to daily challenges—and reminded me that growth comes from taking risks.
What message do you hope women take away from your journey?
That it’s never too late to follow your dreams. I started modeling later in life, as a mother, in a small town, with so many challenges stacked against me. And yet, I did it. If I can, then so can anyone. No matter your age or situation, you can reinvent yourself, pursue your passion, and succeed.
