Antigoni Louca: The Healing Power of Laughter & Movement

For over three decades, Antigoni Louca has been a trailblazer in holistic wellness, seamlessly blending science-backed therapies with ancient healing practices. From physiotherapy and sports medicine to ThetaHealing and Laughter Yoga, she has dedicated her life to helping others achieve balance in mind, body, and spirit. Inspired by her grandmother’s natural healing wisdom and her father’s commitment to healthy living, Antigoni has developed innovative approaches, including Laughter Yoga Greek Dance, to bring joy, connection, and well-being to people worldwide. In this exclusive interview, she shares her insights on stress management, the power of movement, and her mission to transform lives through holistic health.

Your career spans over three decades across various wellness fields, from physiotherapy to fitness and holistic healing. What inspired you to dedicate your life to holistic wellness?

My family was an inspiration for me, especially my grandmother Anthousa. Her name means blooming. My grandmother was considered a natural doctor and she was very respectful in the area, as she was healing people without any charge. Also I was inspired from my father Savvas. He taught me to eat healthy, have many healthy habits, encouraging me to continue learning by his living example.

You integrate science-backed approaches with holistic practices like ThetaHealing and Laughter Yoga. How do you balance these different modalities in your work?

These modalities are based in science too. There are many researches for the laughter and laughter yoga benefits. The therapeutic benefits of meditation are also scientifically proven.

You created Laughter Yoga Greek Dance, a unique fusion of movement and joy. Can you share what inspired this practice and how it benefits participants?

During lockdown from 2020, I was offering online free Laughter Yoga classes to help people cope with stress. As I love dancing, I was teaching dancing, including Greek music and dancing during my classes. Therefore, I had the idea to create a song with a positive meaning of togetherness and love.

You lead workshops worldwide to promote corporate wellness and stress management. What are the biggest challenges professionals face today, and how can holistic wellness help?

The biggest challenges professionals face today are stress-related. High expectations, deadlines, overwhelmed, anxiety, many responsibilities and lack of balance.

As a ThetaHealing Master and Science Instructor, how have you seen this technique transform lives, and what makes it such a powerful tool?

Yes I saw a lot of examples of transformation during my practice. Thetahealing is a powerful meditation technique, using  theta brain waves for healing.

With your background in physical education, exercise physiology, and sports medicine, how do you see movement contributing to mental and emotional well-being?

Movement is the key to life. Our ancestors were moving, hunting, fishing, running. Nowadays we don’t move enough and this fact leads to negative effects for our health. We need to exercise daily to have good physical, mental and emotional well –being. 

 You juggle multiple roles as a coach, therapist, entrepreneur, mother, and more. What keeps you motivated, and what advice do you have for others looking to align their careers with their passions?

My motivation is the positive impact on people’s lives. My advice is to love what you choose to do and offer it with passion and enthusiasm to others.
