Margareta Petrovic: Where Technology Meets Timeless Elegance

In a world that often separates logic from beauty, Margareta Petrovic stands gracefully at their intersection. A seasoned technology leader turned fashion founder, she bridges the precision of code with the poetry of couture. Through her brand, Luna Fashion House, Margareta reimagines what it means to be powerful and feminine crafting garments that honor intellect, movement, and quiet confidence. Her journey from cybersecurity to slow fashion is not a reinvention, but a continuation of purpose: building systems and styles that inspire trust, authenticity, and timeless elegance.

You have had a long and successful career in technology. What first drew you into this field?

Curiosity was the original spark. I wanted to understand why systems behave the way they do and how a tiny change can create an outsized result. I loved the feeling of making something work that did not want to cooperate with me, which is also a fair description of most software on a Monday morning.

Over time I discovered that technology is really a people business. Every line of code represents someone trying to make life safer, faster, or simply kinder to the next person who touches the process. I stayed because the field never stops growing, and because problem solving is a sport that loves endurance.

Tell us about Luna Fashion House. What inspired you to start it?

Luna was born out of a quiet rebellion. I spent years in conference rooms where the palette ran from black to charcoal and back again. I wanted clothing that honored the intelligence of women and also gave them permission to feel beautiful in the middle of a workday. Luna became a love letter to ambition with grace.

There is a personal thread as well. I missed the craft traditions I grew up admiring in Europe. The care, the fit, the conversation between fabric and body. I wanted to build a brand that respects time and attention. A brand that says you do not need a closet the size of a studio apartment. You need a few extraordinary pieces that work as hard as you do and make you feel like yourself.

How would you describe Luna’s style and what makes it special?

Luna is intelligent femininity. Clean lines that never feel severe. Movement without noise. We design for the woman who leads the room and also laughs in the hallway afterward. Think quiet luxury with a heartbeat.

What makes Luna special is its intention. We fit garments on real women in real life. We test how a jacket behaves during a presentation, how a skirt sits after an espresso, how a dress looks in daylight and under evening lights. Each piece must carry a story of confidence without needing to announce itself. You are the main character. The clothes are the supporting cast that never misses a line.

You combine tech and fashion in your life. How do those two worlds connect for you?

They are the same discipline written in two alphabets. Technology is architecture in logic. Fashion is architecture in cloth. Both reward precision, version control, and an almost obsessive respect for materials.

In cybersecurity, I build systems that protect trust. In fashion, I design garments that project trust. One guards the inside, the other signals the outside. When the two are aligned, a leader walks into a room and the room relaxes. People sense competence before a single word is spoken. That is a delightful use of both code and couture.

What does timeless elegance mean to you personally?

It is the courage to know who you are and to edit everything that does not serve that truth. Timeless elegance is not a trend. It is a relationship with quality, with proportion, and with ease. It is the feeling you get when a garment sits exactly where it should and your posture lifts without trying.

In my life, timeless elegance shows up as clarity. Speak honestly. Choose well made things. Leave space for silence. And say thank you often. The rest tends to fall into harmony.

How do you bring European craftsmanship into Luna’s designs?

We start with respect for construction. Our ateliers in Serbia and partners across Europe approach each piece like a small piece of engineering. Seams are placed with intention. Lining is chosen for movement and longevity. Fit is optimized for how women actually live, not for mannequins who never sit down.

We also keep ethics non negotiable. Our makers work reasonable hours and take real holidays. Materials are sourced with care. The goal is not to race to the bottom. The goal is to build garments that you will still love next year and the year after. Craftsmanship is a promise to the future.

What are some challenges you have faced in building Luna Fashion House, and how did you overcome them?

Starting a luxury brand from zero is a masterclass in resilience. There is a chorus of advice that arrives the moment you register a domain. Grow faster. Add more styles. Discount to win. I chose another path. I wanted depth before width. I wanted clients who come back because they feel seen, not because a coupon whispered to them at midnight.

On the practical side, every founder meets the logistics dragon. Supply chains test your sense of humor. Photography schedules collide with customs. You learn to plan, to breathe, and to keep a small emergency kit of espresso and grace. What carries you through is a clear mission and a team that believes beauty and integrity can share the same invoice.

You will soon appear on Women in Power. What message do you hope to share with other women watching?

Your ambition is not something to apologize for. It is a compass. You can lead with strength and remain profoundly kind. You can build a company that reflects your values and still win. The false choice between success and softness belongs in a museum.

I also want to encourage reinvention. Careers are chapters, not cages. I moved from enterprise security leadership into entrepreneurship and creative direction while stepping into a new AI role. The through line is service. Solve real problems. Lift others as you climb. And wear the red dress if it makes you feel unstoppable. The world remembers women who show up as themselves.
