Jenice Zonette Douglas: From Jamaica to Global Impact
From the sun-soaked shores of Jamaica to the bustling streets of London, Jenice Zonette Douglas has carved a path defined by resilience, vision, and heart-centered leadership. A trained teacher, social worker, award-winning author, and now the founder of Femi9 CEO Glowup, Jenice has spent decades empowering women to embrace their feminine energy, cultivate personal presence, and build million-dollar businesses. Her journey—from overcoming childhood trauma and personal struggles to becoming a global leader—proves that true power comes from turning pain into purpose and showing up authentically in every space.
Can you share a little about your journey from Jamaica to London and how it shaped the woman you are today?
I hail from the beautiful island of Jamaica—the land of wood and water, home to over three million people. As a child, I felt “too ugly, too dumb, too undeserving.” I grew up in poverty, experienced sexual abuse, and struggled with English grammar. Yet, with the guidance of my late mother, Phyllis Veralda Bruce, and some committed teachers, I overcame these challenges to become a trained secondary school teacher, a children and families social worker, and an award-winning author.
In early 2006, as a young, courageous professional having just completed my BSc in Social Work, I boarded a British Airways flight from Jamaica to London, fueled by hope and the dream of building a career in one of Europe’s most diverse cities. My two decades in the UK have been anything but easy—echoing the words of iconic Jamaican artist Buju Banton—but I am deeply grateful for the authentic, dignified version of myself that emerged through the fire of these experiences. Over the years, I’ve served thousands of children and families across three different local authorities in the UK.
Following my second divorce in 2014, I hit emotional rock bottom. The joy I once found in my work had dried up. I dropped everything—career, possessions, security—and turned inward to search for answers. With the support of Lisa Nichols, international speaker and bestselling author, I channeled my pain into purpose, writing and self-publishing Damn It, I’m Worthy in 2015. I launched the book in New York City, read across the UK, and within six months won the Best Author category at the BEEFTA Awards in London.
Despite public recognition, I still struggled with the need to go deeper, to dissolve my false identity. About a decade later, post-pandemic, I emerged renewed, responding to the needs of my local community in Southwark. I drew upon the herbal remedies of my Jamaican childhood—like cerasee tea, a natural blood detox—and combined this knowledge with my training and experience as a teacher and social scientist to create strategic programs for low-income families. Through these initiatives, I became known as “a powerful presence” in the community, teaching, counseling, motivating, and empowering thousands.
Today, I am stepping into a new chapter: helping executive women worldwide embody powerful confidence, build global businesses, and secure million-dollar contracts.
What inspired you to create Femi9 CEO Glowup?
Looking back on five decades of life and a diverse career—teacher, social worker, author, event manager, street trader—I now bring maturity, wisdom, and confidence to serve in a new way. I observed many executive women relying on masculine, goal-oriented strategies to secure high-value clients but often at the expense of joy, health, and fulfillment. I’ve been there. Now, with my experience using a heart-centered, intuitive approach to business success, I am committed to helping women lead global businesses while embodying their feminine energy.
You talk a lot about “Personal Presence.” What does that mean in everyday life?
Personal Presence comes from nurturing a deep connection with Nature and establishing daily routines that strengthen self-awareness and connection with others. Nature reminds us of our natural rhythms, creating space for wellness and alignment. In today’s fast-paced world, taking moments to breathe deeply, close our eyes, or walk outdoors helps executive women reclaim their presence and access the abundance of the Universe.
How do you help women tap into their feminine energy while building global businesses?
I guide women to dissolve attachments to hustle culture and societal definitions of success. By releasing this “false identity,” they reconnect with their true nature—their unique gifts and talents. When women integrate ritualistic practices that honor inner connection, imagination and intuition flourish, birthing million-dollar business ideas and strategies.
What role has confidence played in your growth as a leader and entrepreneur?
Confidence comes from daily practices that nurture intuition and self-trust. By showing up authentically in every space—conference room, meeting, or networking event—I bring my full energy and presence. This self-confidence naturally attracts high-value clients and opportunities.
How do you balance sharing ancient wisdom with modern business strategies?
Modern business often emphasizes masculine, goal-oriented strategies—hustling toward measurable outcomes. While effective, this approach alone is incomplete for women. Women, like Nature, move in cycles: action, rest, renewal. Integrating feminine energy with modern strategies ensures success that is both abundant and life-giving. Balancing ancient wisdom with contemporary business tools is the key to sustainable, holistic achievement for Femi9 CEOs.
What challenges have you faced as a woman in leadership, and how did you overcome them?
Societal expectations often forced me to work against my natural rhythm. Traditional roles, time-based goals, and masculine-driven measures conflicted with my need to honor my feminine essence. After my second divorce, I let go of my career and false identity to process unresolved emotions. Emerging from this, I now operate with powerful confidence and alignment, fully accessible to the abundance that is naturally mine.
Your motto is “Personal Presence is my Superpower.” How can other women discover theirs?
This motto invites executive women to establish routines that honor their natural cycles, nurturing personal presence. When a woman embodies her unique essence, she commands every room she enters. Feminine energy is powerful and, when harnessed, allows women to secure high-value clients with ease.
What advice would you give to women held back by self-doubt or fear of visibility?
Self-doubt is a false identity. Women reclaim their worth by turning inward, exploring their inner world, and reconnecting with Nature. Simple acts—closing your eyes, taking a deep breath, or walking outdoors—can profoundly deepen self-connection, strengthen confidence, and empower visibility.
Looking ahead, what’s your vision for Femi9 CEO Glowup and the women you want to empower worldwide?
I envision empowering executive women to lead heart-centered, globally successful businesses while honoring their feminine cycles of action, rest, and renewal. Through international speaking engagements and executive coaching, Femi9 CEO Glowup will help women access confidence, presence, and the power to secure million-dollar clients with ease.
