Mary Madani: From Healing Hands to Holistic Beauty
With over 25 years in women’s health, Mary Madani has spent her career guiding women through life’s most transformative moments. From her early days as a registered nurse, midwife, and lactation consultant to her current role as Vice President and COO of Purity Spa Med in Arlington, Virginia, Mary has brought the same compassion, expertise, and dedication to medical aesthetics.
At Purity Spa Med, she leads a team of licensed professionals who combine advanced treatments with holistic care, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident, cared for, and empowered. For Mary, true beauty isn’t about perfection — it’s about alignment: honoring your health, embracing your skin, and feeling at home in your own body.
Her journey from healthcare to aesthetics has been marked by innovation, empathy, and a mission to uplift women, both in her clinic and in the wider community.
What inspired you to work in women’s health and support women during big life changes?

From the beginning of my nursing career, I felt a deep calling to serve women—especially during the most transformative moments of their lives. Whether it was supporting a birth, guiding through postpartum, or helping a new mother feel confident again, I found purpose in being a calm, skilled presence in those vulnerable times. I’ve always believed women deserve care that honors both their strength and their sensitivity.
How has your experience in healthcare influenced the way you approach beauty and wellness?
My healthcare background gave me a deep respect for the body, the science behind it, and the emotional layers we carry. When I entered aesthetics, I brought with me that same integrity—knowing that beauty treatments aren’t just about appearance, but about restoring confidence and well-being. I don’t approach procedures as a trend or transaction; I see them as another way to support healing and empowerment, using both clinical skill and empathy.
Moving from healthcare to medical aesthetics must have been a big shift. What was the hardest part?
Although medical aesthetics was a new industry for me, caring for people is something I’ve done my entire life. With over 25 years of experience in clinical healthcare, as a registered nurse, midwife, and lactation consultant, I bring deep expertise in patient safety, anatomy, and emotional support.
The biggest shift wasn’t in the care itself, but in learning how to express that same clinical expertise through the lens of aesthetics. I had to retrain my hands for a different kind of precision and retrain my mind to focus not just on health outcomes, but on how someone feels in their own skin. My mission has always been the same: to empower women to feel confident, cared for, and valued.
You say confidence is about alignment, not perfection. What does that mean to you?
To me, confidence isn’t about chasing a flawless look; it’s about feeling like your inner self and your outer self are in harmony. When you walk into a room and your skin reflects how vibrant and resilient you feel on the inside, that’s alignment. I see beauty as a mirror of well-being, not a mask.
How do you combine science, creativity, and care in your treatments?
Every treatment I offer is rooted in science—knowing facial anatomy, product safety, cellular behavior. But I also approach the face like an artist. Each client’s features are unique, and I take time to study, visualize, and shape with precision. The care comes in how I listen. I never rush. I want each person to feel heard, held, and honored through the process.
Why is holistic wellness important in the services you offer?
Because beauty doesn’t live in isolation. You can inject filler or smooth wrinkles, but if someone is depleted, anxious, or disconnected, it will show. That’s why we integrate massage, skin health, IV therapy, and emotional support at Purity Spa Med. When the whole person is cared for, the results are deeper, longer lasting, and more meaningful.
What’s the most rewarding part of leading your team and growing Purity Spa Med?
The most rewarding part is building a space that truly feels like family. At Purity Spa Med, we’ve created more than just a workplace — we’ve built a supportive, uplifting environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to grow.
Watching my team members support one another, celebrate each other’s wins, and show up with heart every day is incredibly meaningful. Many of them started with us early in their careers and seeing them blossom into confident professionals — while staying grounded in compassion — is something I’m deeply proud of.
For me, growing Purity Spa Med has never just been about business. It’s about creating a community where both clients and staff feel safe, inspired, and cared for — like home
Can you share a client story that really touched you?
There was a woman who came in after a divorce, feeling lost and invisible. She said she hadn’t looked in the mirror in months. We started slowly—with facials, a gentle skincare routine, and eventually Tox. A few weeks later, she walked in glowing, hair done, and said, “You didn’t just fix my skin—you reminded me I’m still here.” That moment stays with me.
Why is giving back to the community and supporting women so important?
Because I am that community. I’ve been a single mother, an immigrant, a nurse working night shifts—I know what it means to be held up by other women. That’s why we donate to local shelters, support survivors, and empower other small businesses. Giving back is how we stay grounded and grateful.
How do you define beauty beyond appearance?
To me, beauty is energy. It’s the way someone carries themselves after they’ve healed. It’s the light in their eyes when they feel seen. It’s resilience, softness, and self-love—all radiating from the inside out. The treatments just help that light shine a little brighter.
