What inspired you to get into real estate in the first place?
My father was a real estate lawyer, and my mom loved design and fashion. We would attend every Home Show and go cross-border shopping in New York and Detroit. Toured new home developments on weekends to be up to date. So it’s a part of my DNA and became an early passion.
How did buying your first property change your life?
It was that wonderful feeling of “I can do anything I set my mind to.” I was very young and felt like I was establishing myself beyond my career. It gave me independence and recognition from peers and family. I initially chose to have fun with it and then turned it into another source of income.
What does freedom mean to you, and how has real estate helped you create it?
Freedom is to be able to do what I want, when I want, wherever I want! Real Estate allowed me to grow a portfolio of wealth that created financial freedom and free vacations, too!
You work with your son—what’s that like, and how did the two of you decide to team up?
We have always been an entrepreneurial family. My husband and I took our daughter and son to wealth summits at an early age. They worked with me in my consulting business, facilitating kids’ market research groups while I was facilitating adults. They became involved in our vacation rental business operations from an early age and later became directors. Both my son and I have business degrees and are like-minded. So it was natural for us to start on this journey. We have so much joy in helping others and mutual respect for abilities. We are crushing it! My daughter, who is a senior HR professional, and I are certified stagers, and we consult on our home staging projects and real estate special events. It’s a blessing to work with family and create multigenerational wealth for ourselves and our clients.
For someone just starting, what’s one simple step they can take to feel more confident?
Rise above fear through education and coaching. Knowledge is power.
What’s a mistake you made early on that turned into a great lesson?
Selling my first home to buy furniture for another! Bright shiny objects can come later. If I had kept that home in my portfolio, my financial freedom date would have come so much faster.
How do you choose properties that feel both smart and beautiful?
I look for properties that elevate or have the potential to create an elevated lifestyle. I look for high-value opportunities in the most desirable locations – whether it’s a waterfront, mountain, cityscape or some other breathtaking view with that “this is it” factor or a fixer-upper with significant upside.
Why do you think real estate is such a powerful tool, especially for women?
Real estate is one of the most powerful ways for women to build lasting wealth and independence. Unlike other types of investment, it’s tangible, predictable, adaptable and scalable—you can start small and grow it over time. It not only builds financial security but also gives women choice, freedom, and the ability to design the lifestyle they want at various life stages. Real estate investment is not just about money; it’s also about quality of life. I see real estate investment as both a wealth-building tool and a confidence-building tool, because every smart investment is a reminder that you control your future.
What would you say to a woman who feels afraid to take that first step in investing?
Fear is completely natural—especially when we’re stepping into something powerful that can change our lives. I always say, start small and start smart. You don’t have to buy your dream property on day one; you just need that first foothold. Real estate is forgiving when you plan well—you can leverage experts, proven strategies, and market cycles to minimize risk. And the truth is, waiting often costs more than acting, because time is what builds equity. The first step is less about the money and more about deciding that you deserve financial freedom and a life you love.
Looking back, what’s one moment that made you think, “Wow, this is the life I dreamed of”?
One day I travelled and spent a little time at 4 of my favourite properties. Each one was so different – from an urban oasis to a riverside retreat to mountain views, amazing landscapes and just the right amenities. All reflected our personality and passion for detail and unique, comforting experiences. I realized that I loved being at each one and was proud not only to be somewhere I thoroughly enjoyed, but I could also share them with others, all while creating wealth. That’s when I truly knew I was living the real estate lifestyle: invest wisely, live beautifully.
