Ozlem Sokmen: From Boardrooms to Bioenergy

She once walked the polished halls of corporate offices in London, armed with an MBA and a title that many would envy. But behind the success was a quiet longing—for freedom, healing, and something more meaningful. Born in a small town in central Turkey, Ozlem’s journey defied cultural expectations, language barriers, and career norms. Today, she’s not just a mother of three—she’s a Bioenergetic Meridian Therapy Instructor, teacher, and founder of a global healer network. Her story is a powerful reminder that healing isn’t just something we receive—it’s something we can become.

What was going through your mind when you left Turkey without speaking a word of English?

I’m a naturally positive person, so I never let fear take over. I didn’t focus on what could go wrong—instead, I was full of excitement. I couldn’t wait to learn a new language, discover a new country, and meet new people. I was ready for a fresh start. Deep down, I knew I had to follow the pull in my heart. Even though I didn’t know exactly what was waiting for me, I believed it was going to be something greater. I felt free and truly myself again.

Looking back, what gave you the courage to take such bold steps, again and again?

It’s always been love—love for myself, my daughters, my family, and the life I envisioned. And also love for the version of me I hadn’t met yet. Each bold step was a choice to grow rather than shrink, even when I was afraid. I relied on my skills, mindset, and resilience to pursue these aspirations. My courage wasn’t always loud, but it was always there—steady and persistent.

Was there a moment when you knew your life was about to change direction?

Yes. One morning, when I started to check my agenda for the week, I found myself just standing still—utterly drained from living a life that didn’t reflect who I truly was. That quiet moment was powerful. I knew something had to shift. It became clear that I needed to align my work, my health, and my purpose to move forward with authenticity.

How did becoming a mother shift your perspective on career, health, and purpose?

Motherhood changed everything. It was no longer about just me. It’s been a challenging yet beautiful journey. I was fortunate to be able to care for my children at home rather than sending them to nursery. My priorities completely changed—my children came first. My husband and I decided this was best for both them and my mental health, as I became a very protective mum. As they’ve grown older, I’ve gradually made space for myself again—focusing more on my health, my career path, and rediscovering who I am beyond motherhood.

What first drew you to energy healing, and how did it feel when you experienced it for yourself?

My grandmother once told me, “I gave you my hand so you can go and heal people.” That made me start fascinated with energy and healing. I used to practice it intuitively on my daughters—it felt like I had a magic wand that could melt pain away. I went on to study Bioenergy and earned a master-level certification. Later, I was introduced to Bioenergetic Meridian Therapy, and it deeply resonated with me. I even took my entire family to Istanbul to try it. After my first session, I knew I had to learn more. At first, I wanted to use it just for my family, but after witnessing its profound effects, I knew I had to share it with others too.

How do you explain meridian therapy to someone who’s never heard of it?

I usually say it’s like acupuncture—but without needles. It’s a gentle, non-invasive way to restore your body’s natural energy flow. We work with the body’s meridian lines—energy channels—and stimulate them through touch, breathwork, intention and explain how it can work. This helps release emotional and physical blockages. Everyone experiences it therapy differently, which is why I say—it’s something you need to feel to truly understand.

What’s one story of transformation from a client that stayed with you?

I’ve witnessed many powerful transformations. One client struggled with sleep, brain fog, and physical pain. After her third session, she was able to sleep through the night, her mind became sharp and focused, and her pain disappeared—she no longer needed physiotherapy for the first time in years. And personally, I once had the early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome. I was waking up at night with pain in my hands and arms. The doctor recommended injections, but after 5–6 sessions of Meridian Therapy, the pain completely disappeared—and hasn’t returned in over three years.

How did joining Global Woman Club help you step into your next chapter?

It gave me three things: community, clarity, and confidence. Being surrounded by other powerful women reminded me I wasn’t alone—and that my voice mattered. It helped me refine my message, embrace my gifts, and believe in the next level of what I could achieve. It truly expanded my horizon and made me dream bigger.

What inspired you to start a space specifically for women healers?

Because I am one—and I know how lonely that path can feel. Women healers hold so much wisdom, but they are often under supported or unseen. I wanted to create a nurturing, high-frequency space where women could feel safe to connect, collaborate, and be celebrated. That’s how Global Women Healers was born.

If you could pass one message to your daughters-or—or your future grandchildren—what would it be?

My message would be never shrink yourself to fit into someone else’s idea of who you should be. For this, trust your intuition. Love with your whole heart. Embrace challenges and be patient—everything happens in its time. Every obstacle is a lesson in disguise. Love yourself and show gratitude for everything and everyone in your life. And remember—you come from a line of brave women who chose growth over fear.
