LARIMARITA: The Ocean’s Muse Crafting Soul-Stirring Jewels

Nestled between the lush mountains and turquoise shores of the Dominican Republic lives a woman whose life is as rare and radiant as the gemstone she adores. ANAEL Milena Oda—artist, healer, shaman, and founder of LARIMARITA—has spent over 15 years channelling the mystical energy of Larimar, a stone found only in her island’s sacred earth. Living just steps from the only Larimar mine in the world, she leads a local artisan team in crafting silver jewellery that speaks not just to beauty, but to spirit. From the Caribbean coast to global showcases in Japan, Europe, and beyond, ANAEL shares not only jewels but a story of passion, power, and the deep healing essence of nature itself.

Anael, can you take us back to the moment you first encountered Larimar? What did it awaken in you?

I first discovered Larimar in a small crystal shop in Long Beach, California, during a time when I had already been living in Los Angeles—and later Long Beach—for about seven years. I was well into my spiritual journey, exploring deeper dimensions of self-awareness and healing.

That day, something extraordinary happened. From across the room, a radiant blue pendant caught my eye. It shimmered with an energy I had never felt before. As I stood there, mesmerized, tears began to stream down my face. It was as if I had encountered a soulmate—not in the form of a person, but in the essence of this beautiful crystal. The connection was immediate and profound.

Despite its price being higher than most stones I had seen, I didn’t hesitate. I used the last of my money to make it mine. I even bought a chain on the spot so I could wear it over my heart. From that moment, it felt as though I was carrying a new companion—loving, healing, and deeply attuned to my energy.

Larimar didn’t just become a cherished part of my spiritual practice; it changed the course of my life. That same year, I met a real human soulmate, twinflame, who was someone who would become one of my greatest teachers for the next seven years.

Larimar, as I am talking with the stone, invited me to visit his homeland, the Dominican Republic—where Larimar is exclusively found. Four years later, I made the move, drawn by the magnetic pull of this stone, and found myself living near the very mines where Larimar is born.

When I finally arrived, I felt an overwhelming sense of completion. It was as if Larimar had fulfilled its purpose in my life. My first Larimar is a symbol of healing, love, and transformation.

That’s the magic of Larimar. Its energy enters your life with purpose, and when its work is done, it gently steps aside, making space for new growth, new love, and deeper healing. 💙

You’ve travelled the world with your jewels — Japan, South Korea, the US, Europe. How have different cultures responded to Larimar and your story?

Yes, very different in each country. To go to the Gemshows and sell it’s not just like selling fruits. Larimar is a precious, expensive and spiritual stone. Each piece has a deep soul looking for its human counterpart. Each culture looks at the same piece differently. Everyone sees the beauty, but each culture has a different approach.

So I need to tune into the culture where I go to bring those pieces which resonate with the souls of the culture. For example, the Japanese like everything small, tiny and clean. So I bring small pieces, there can be an exception, but rarely.

Different cultures perceive the same stone through their own emotional and aesthetic lens. While everyone recognizes its beauty, the interpretation, emotional connection, and preference vary greatly.

That’s why, wherever I travel, I make it a priority to tune into the local energy and cultural preferences. I curate each collection accordingly, bringing pieces that I feel will resonate with the spirit of that place.

For instance, in Japan, there is a deep appreciation for simplicity and subtlety. People are drawn to clean, delicate forms. So, I focus on smaller, refined pieces. Of course, there are exceptions, but they’re rare. It’s about honoring the cultural rhythm and bringing Larimar in a form that speaks directly to the heart of the people.

What’s your ultimate vision for Larimarita beyond jewellery — as a movement, a healing force, a lifestyle?

Larimarita is far more than a jewellery brand—it’s a healing force and a catalyst for empowerment. Wherever I go, I carry a high vibration, and through Larimarita, I aim to elevate the energy of every space I enter. My lifestyle is rooted in conscious living and holistic wellness, and Larimarita is an extension of that path, inviting others to heal, awaken, and align with their highest selves.

At its core, Larimarita is a guide—a bridge reconnecting us to the ancient wisdom of Atlantean love and creative energy. It speaks to those who long to remember paradise, who dream of a more harmonious, soul-led life. Through the sacred energy of Larimar, Larimarita brings visions of peace, purpose, and beauty into tangible form.

As a brand, Larimarita stands for authenticity, light, and transformation. It channels the healing frequencies of the Caribbean Sea into wearable art, becoming a changemaker in personal and collective vibration. Ultimately, Larimarita is about inspiring abundance, inner peace, and a deeper connection to the essence of who we truly are.

How has your 15-year journey as a healer and artist transformed your understanding of purpose—both personally and in business?

In the beginning, I saw the different aspects of myself—artist, healer, writer—as separate, compartmentalised roles. For the first decade of my life, I was deeply immersed in the arts: writing poetry, directing films, acting, and living in the world of theatre and literature. That creative expression was my life’s heartbeat.

But when I experienced a profound spiritual awakening, everything shifted. I felt a strong calling to step away from my artistic career as I knew it. I tried to continue writing, but my poetic language had always been German—the language I had studied and spoken during my 15 years living in Germany and Austria.

When I moved to the United States—New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and eventually Long Beach—I attempted to write in English, crafting screenplays and poetry. Yet something within me had changed. It felt as if that particular chapter of creative expression had come to a close. My energy was being redirected—toward healing.

That’s when my true purpose began to reveal itself. I turned inward, focusing on my own healing journey. In doing so, I was called to serve others. I carry rare spiritual gifts—visionary abilities that allow me to see deeply into people’s souls, their past lives, and even into the cosmos. What I witness is often breathtaking, even to me.

This path eventually led me to the jungle, where I was guided to work with sacred plant medicines from Peru. Ayahuasca became like a sister to me; San Pedro, the cactus medicine, like a brother. Kambo, the frog medicine, offered powerful physical and energetic cleansing. These ancient, sacred medicines deepened my connection to the Earth, to spirit, and the healing arts in a way no other path could.

Today, I no longer see my roles as separate. My artistry, my healing, my business—they are all threads of the same tapestry. Purpose, to me, is not a profession. It is a way of being. And my purpose is to awaken, to heal, and to guide others in remembering who they truly are.

How do you integrate your background as a spiritual master, healer, and shaman into your jewellery creations?

Every piece of Larimar jewellery I offer is more than a beautiful object—it is a vessel of energy, intention, and ancient memory. Once I receive the polished stones or handcrafted pieces from our small workshops, I begin a sacred process of cleansing and energetic preparation.

I place the stones on my altar, where they remain for days or even weeks. I speak to them, meditate with them, and tune them into a new frequency. This is not simply about preparation—it is a spiritual dialogue. I work closely with the energy of Larimar, which I understand deeply from years of intuitive connection.

Larimar carries the love-and-light codes of the ancient Atlantean and Lemurian civilizations. I channelled the actual name of Larimar as Atlantianite. It holds within it a memory of unity, purity, and divine harmony in the ancient time of Love and light.

My role is to awaken that dormant wisdom—to reactivate its energy so it can align with the soul of its future wearer.

This is my sacred mission: to use my spiritual gifts to co-create with Larimar, infusing each piece with intention, light, and remembrance. Each jewel is a whisper from an ancient world—a world where only love existed. Through my work, I help carry that message forward. 🙏

Can you walk us through a day in your life at your Caribbean spiritual center?

While my spiritual center and residence are still in development, it’s located below the Larimar mine, so am already deeply rooted in healing purpose, nature, and creative flow. I spend much of my time working online with clients from around the world—offering spiritual guidance, healing, and intuitive support.

Between sessions, I often visit in the members of my team in the mine village as we collaborate on jewellery pieces or develop new creations. It’s always an exciting process—bringing visions to life through Larimar and other sacred elements.

Of course, no day is complete without connecting to the Caribbean. I practice yoga and meditation on the beach, often while walking with my beloved dog family—four beautiful souls who adore, like me the water element. The beach is my sanctuary, my daily recharge, and an endless source of inspiration.

Our center is located near the turquoise shores of the Caribbean, with a breathtaking view that reflect the healing energy of this sacred place near the Larimar mine. Even though it’s not yet fully completed, the spirit of the space is already alive, anchoring the dream of a healing sanctuary where nature, beauty, and soul work unite.

How has building Larimarita impacted the lives of your Dominican team and the local community around the mine?

Building Larimarita in the Dominican Republic was a significant decision, especially given the many stories of mistrust—foreigners being robbed or materials stolen. Living and working in the mine community for three challenging years opened my eyes to the deep wounds and historical trauma between Black and White populations here. There is understandably a lot of resistance and pain towards “gringos,” a sentiment I felt very deeply.

With compassion for these intergenerational traumas, I committed myself to healing and bridging this divide within my Larimar community. I believe that effort has borne fruit. I have cultivated strong, loving, and trusting relationships with the people around me, and my decision to build a home and spiritual center here is a continuation of that trust. Importantly, I am not building it alone—the community is building it with me.

I support many members of the mine village by providing meaningful work, fostering mutual respect, and creating a positive environment free from exploitation. This has become a process of renewal and light for this important Larimar village, which resonates deeply with the spiritual nature of the stone itself.

Another key part of my mission has been guiding locals to start their own businesses—many of whom had little previous knowledge of commerce or entrepreneurship. While this is still a work in progress, I have discovered a hidden entrepreneurial side within myself. I love combining healing and business—helping clients connect to Larimar jewellery not just as adornment but as a catalyst to awaken the soul and remember the Atlantean Love within.

Now, I find myself entering a new phase of self-evolution—one where I joyfully integrate all my past experiences. Larimarita embodies this authentic, creative, and abundant energy I nurture within myself as a unique spiritual business owner. Each chapter of my journey has had its meaning, and now it is my time to shine with Larimar—through Larimarita—bringing this mesmerizing gemstone’s healing power to the world.

Amen.🙏

What role does storytelling play in your brand—and how do you use your platforms (IG/FB/TikTok) to share not just products, but the spirit behind them?

I am currently developing an e-shop, which has been an incredible learning experience in how to present not only my products but also the vibrant energy and paradise that surrounds Larimarita. The online space offers a perfect canvas to share beautiful visuals and meaningful stories that connect with people on a deeper level.

I’m still growing and evolving in this digital presence, and I remain open and hopeful that the right mentors and opportunities will come my way, whether directly or indirectly, to help me expand my reach. Fluent in four languages, I see this as a unique advantage and a premium asset that will enable me to connect with an international audience in a more authentic and impactful way.

My passion for Larimar jewellery and the energy it embodies is something I truly want to share worldwide. I feel this vision is already unfolding.

Being part of communities like the Global Woman Club and other women entrepreneur networks has been a vital part of my journey. I’ve been a member of GWC for nearly five years (with a pause during Covid), and it’s been inspiring to reconnect with familiar faces and witness the growth of fellow women entrepreneurs—and for them to witness mine.

I’m not the same person I was when I first joined the Global Woman Club in Los Angeles, where my journey with this community began. I’m grateful for the personal and professional growth I’ve experienced, and I celebrate the ongoing evolution of all the incredible women around me. Here’s to many more years of spiritual growth and purposeful achievement for all.

If Larimar could speak through you to the world, what message would it share right now?

Love yourself deeply. Trust your intuition—your heart’s true voice—and courageously follow its guidance. Live your truth with authenticity and embody unconditional love. Be a beacon of light and inspiration for the world.

Recognize your worth, embrace your abundance, and allow yourself to thrive in richness—spiritually, emotionally, and materially.

Thank you for the interview, and I should use the opportunity and encourage the GW community:

Let’s discover Larimar for yourself. My Motto is: “Everyone should have Larimar to understand what the self-love means. It’s the Gem within.”

With love and light, yours
Larimarita ♡ ❤️
