In this exclusive feature, we dive into the remarkable story of a woman who blends faith, fashion, and fierce ambition to make an indelible mark on the world

Your journey from Nigeria to the U.S. and then into entrepreneurship is truly inspiring. What mindset shifts helped you thrive through major life transitions like immigration, divorce, and career reinvention?

One of the most important mindset shifts I adopted was learning to always stay true to myself and believe in my capabilities, even when circumstances seemed uncertain. I intentionally embraced positivity and self-motivation, pushing myself to learn continuously and adapt fearlessly. Over time, I began to view rejection not as failure, but as a redirection, a stepping stone to greater success.

You’ve launched two brands—Ogstar Interiors and Ogstar Apparel—in the same year. What inspired you to pursue both fashion and interior design simultaneously, and how do these ventures reflect your values?

Both interior design and fashion have been lifelong passions. As far back as my college years, I was known for creatively decorating my dorm space, which brought me joy and fulfilment. Similarly, fashion has always been part of my identity; even as a child, I was intentional about my style and color coordination. These passions have now evolved into purpose-driven businesses that reflect my creativity, self-expression, and commitment to bringing beauty and confidence into everyday life.

As someone who blends technology, creativity, and faith in your work, how do you maintain a balance between your spiritual grounding and your entrepreneurial drive?

My faith in God has been the foundation of everything I do. It grounds me, strengthens me, and reminds me of my purpose, especially during challenging times. I often work while listening to Christian music or inspirational songs, which uplift my spirit and spark creativity. My spiritual life and entrepreneurial drive go hand in hand, each fueling the other in powerful ways.

You’ve spoken at conferences around the world. What key message or experience do you hope to leave with every audience you encounter?

I always want my audience to walk away knowing that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I encourage them to embrace failure as part of the process and to keep trying, because perseverance always leads to breakthroughs. There is light at the end of the tunnel for those who stay committed to their vision.

Mentoring youth and educators in coding, SAP, and entrepreneurship is a unique combination. How did these interests evolve, and why is this mentorship work so important to you?

My journey in mentoring began during my role at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where I started training students in coding, SAP, and entrepreneurship. It became clear to me how impactful mentorship could be in shaping future leaders. Supporting young people and educators has allowed me to give back meaningfully—to help them develop practical skills, launch their ideas, and contribute to a thriving tech-driven economy.

How has your global exposure—from working in Nigeria, the UK, Europe, and the U.S.—shaped your approach to business and creativity?

My global experiences have broadened my perspective immensely. They’ve taught me the value of cultural diversity, adaptability, and the importance of building strong international networks. Each region—whether in Europe, Africa, or the Americas—has added a unique layer of insight that now shapes my business strategies and creative outlook.

What challenges have you faced as a woman of color building a brand in tech, design, and fashion—and how have you overcome them?

One of my greatest challenges has been accessing funding and gaining global recognition for my products. As a woman of color, breaking into mainstream markets can feel like an uphill climb. However, I’ve chosen to start small, remain consistent, and keep building with the resources I have. I’m committed to pushing through, believing that visibility and acceptance will come with perseverance and strategic growth.

With two sons, one in college and one in high school, how has motherhood influenced your entrepreneurial style and leadership values?

Motherhood, especially as a single parent, has deeply influenced my approach to business and leadership. My sons are my greatest motivation—they inspire me to work hard, be resilient, and lead by example. I want them to see that even in the face of adversity, you can rise, rebuild, and create something meaningful. That mindset defines how I lead both at home and in business.

Looking ahead, what are your biggest dreams for Ogstar Interiors and Ogstar Apparel over the next five years, especially on a global scale?

In the next five years, I will envision Ogstar Interiors and Ogstar Apparel becoming globally recognized brands. My dream is to inspire and collaborate with creatives around the world, expanding our reach across continents. I want to be known not only as a designer and entrepreneur but also as a global influencer who empowers others through innovation and creativity.

What advice would you give to immigrant women or single mothers who want to launch their businesses but feel limited by their circumstances?

My advice is simple: don’t allow your circumstances to define your future. Start small with what you have, believe in your vision, and build consistently. Every big dream starts with a single step. Your journey may not be easy, but it will be worth it.
