What first sparked your interest in dentistry and working with smiles?

I was in the waiting room of my dentist when I observed this lady walking in crying, head low, without teeth, and one hour later smiling, full of joy and a completely different person. I thought, “Who is the magician who made this possible? I want to be like them
Tenerife inspired my love for nature, for good food, for spirituality, not so much for “creating beautiful smiles” but it living there makes you want to smile all day long… vitamin SEA
There was no dentistry in the Canary Islands, so I had to go abroad. My brother lived in Barcelona at the time, so my parents thought it would be great for us to live together in the same city.
That we all have an artist inside of us, art is subjective and there is no “right” or “wrong”… every person gets a chance to develop themselves without any judgement… its a very cosmopolitan city.
How did your time in New York shape your skills and approach to dentistry?
New York gave me strength, teamwork and the certainty that everything in life is possible; you get a new chance to begin.
I believe that technology, when used smartly, can help us become better professionals. In the dental field, it has helped us communicate much better with patients as now they can finally “see” (using digital scanners)what we see and understand how important the mouth is.
In New York, I was a student, a different life, a different environment… in London is when it all took off professionally. London is very different, energy, people, culture… it took a while to get used to the rules.
I’m very lucky that I’ve never been struck, for me everyone is the same and I’m aware that the vulnerability of showing someone your mouth is an uncomfortable situation, so I always try to make everyone feel at home and in a safe place.
What does transforming a smile mean to you beyond just the physical changes?
Beyond the physical, it’s about restoring confidence, healing emotional wounds, and helping someone reconnect with their true self. A smile is often our most honest form of expression; when someone hides it, they’re often hiding a part of who they are. So to transform it is to help them come back to life — to smile without thinking, to speak without fear, to show up in the world as they were meant to.
Being happy to wake up every morning and do what I love, helping people smile
