Biohacking Your Business (and Brain) as a Neurodivergent Entrepreneur

By Lindsay O’Neill | CEO, Wellness Eternal & Small Hinges Health | TEDx Speaker

Let me start with a confession: I have both ADD and dyslexia. And no, I don’t think that’s a weakness—it’s my superpower.

Sure, it means I sometimes forget why I walked into a room, have 47 tabs open in my brain (and on my browser), and write “creative” spelling that autocorrect refuses to help with. But it also means I see patterns others don’t. I can pivot fast, dream big, and create like wildfire. And if you’re a fellow founder with a neurodivergent brain—ADHD, ADD, dyslexia—welcome to the club. You’re not broken. You’re built differently—and powerfully.

In fact, studies show that 35% of entrepreneurs have dyslexia and entrepreneurs are 300% more likely to have ADHD. We’re wired for adaptability, innovation, and big-picture thinking. But that same wiring can lead to burnout, mental fatigue, and shiny-object syndrome if we don’t take care of our inner ecosystem.

And here’s the part I care about most: I want my four daughters to grow up knowing that neurodivergence is not a flaw—it’s a strength. We don’t need to “fix” our brains. We need to fuel them.

Here’s how I biohack my brain—and my business—with mindfulness, not medication:

1. Start with Stillness (Yes, Even You)

Waking up early and praying or meditating before the chaos hits isn’t just a vibe—it’s a reset. My ADD brain wants to sprint into emails and ideas. But when I take 10 minutes for breathwork, prayer, or Joe Dispenza’s meditations, my whole day changes.

Try: SOMA Breath, BrainTap headset, or just sitting in silence with your hand on your heart. Call it a power-up, not a pause.

2. Ditch the Screens Before Bed

ADD brains already struggle with sleep and melatonin regulation. Add in doomscrolling, and you’ve got a nervous system that never shuts down. I turn off all screens 1–2 hours before bed. No emails. No TV. Just real music, a good book, or a moment to reflect.

Pro tip: Use a grounding mat (like the Anti-Aging Bed cover), red-light panels, or magnesium to calm your system.

3. Hydrate Like You Mean It

Dehydration is one of the top causes of brain fog—and for neurodivergent entrepreneurs, clarity is gold. I start my day with Hydrogen-rich mineralized water (LumiVitae water + add sea salt or electrolytes in a glass bottle), and I avoid toxic foods that spike inflammation and make my brain feel like mush.

Eat clean, not complicated. Ditch sugar, gluten, and seed oils. Your brain will thank you.

4. Manifest Instead of Multitask

Traditional to-do lists overwhelm my ADD brain. So I work backwards.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want?
  • Why do I want it?
  • What will I feel when I get it?
  • How will I celebrate?

Focus on the WHAT and the WHY. The HOW will follow once your energy is in alignment. Trust me.

5. Give Yourself Tech-Free Thinking Time

My best ideas don’t come from staring at a screen. They come during silent walks, hot showers, or 15 minutes with no stimulation. ADD brains thrive on novelty—but they also need space to integrate. Schedule “white space” every day.

This Isn’t Just About Us—it’s About the Next Generation

I talk to my daughters about this all the time. That having ADD or dyslexia doesn’t mean something’s wrong with them. It means their brains are wired to lead, create, and build differently.

We’re not here to fit into systems—we’re here to reinvent them.

So if you’re a neurodivergent female entrepreneur, know this:
You’re not behind. You’re not scattered. You’re powerful beyond measure—especially when you build mindful habits that support your brain and body.

Final Thought:

Biohacking isn’t just techy gadgets and cold plunges. It’s learning how to work with your brain, not against it. It’s grounding, breathing, nourishing, sleeping, and dreaming on purpose.

Because when we stop fighting our nature and start fueling our genius, everything changes—for us and for our kids.
